Argyle diamond mine

Argyle diamond mine is one of the world’s most productive diamond mines, which is located in the kimberlite zone eastern part of western Australia, Argyle mine is the world’s main source of red diamond and pink diamond, and occupied ninety percent of the world pink diamond and red diamond annual output. Argyle mine also produces champagne, cognac color, purple and blue diamond.

Argyle diamond mine famous for the good quality fancy diamonds all over the world, the mine rock containing diamond was discovered in 1979, and the company began to impact mining in 1983. Argyle mine began operating in 1985, the colored diamond supply structure of the world began to change since that time, especially in the pink diamond market. Argyle mine produce 35 million carats diamond annually, which occupied one third of the world diamond, the five percent of the diamond is regarded as the gem grade.

Rio Tinto Group will be held the Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender every year, the pink diamonds are exhibited in the large diamond exhibition centre all over the world.

In 2001, Argyle diamond mine’s life close to end, Rio Tinto board of directors approved the building plan of underground mining field in 2005, which is expected to extend the age of the mine to 2018.
